Winter Survival: January
Hello, friends! Just a brief reprise from the usual here to talk about a few of my winter survival tactics before I go back to blogging your images. Winter is a quieter time for my business, which is great for planning a busy Senior season and Spring family shoots. I appreciate this slower time and take advantage of this snail's pace to delve into good reads, both fiction and non-fiction, too. Magazines, novels, and business publications are a few of my favorite reads. Focusing on wellness, and giving thanks are also a priority, as is quality time with my family.
It's just the beginning of winter, but here are a few favorites that are seeing me through winter's short and cold days:
- Tell The Wolves I'm Home: I love good, gripping novels, especially this time of year. I'm about 1/2 way through this compelling story about a girl who loses her much adored uncle to AIDS. It's a real emotional heart tugger with interesting, but relatable characters and themes. It's a can't-put-down kind of book. So far, so fabulous.
- Click magazine: I love when Click shows up in my mailbox. This magazine is filled with gorgeous and inspiring photography by moms like me, and good, solid business advice, too. I take away plenty of valuable stuff from this read. It's honestly a great publication for anyone who loves photography.
- Sworkit app: Have you heard of this one? It's pretty cool. In a nutshell, you customize your workouts and choose the length of time you want to sweat your butt off. I'm a bit lazy about cardio, so I set mine to 15 minutes of cardio, and 5 minutes of upper body strength training for a total workout of 20 minutes. Walking your dog on a daily basis counts as exercise, too, right? I'm not that lazy. Bonus: Sworkit is free.
- The Paper Source stationary: A short drive to Wellesley brings you to The Paper Source where you'll find gorgeous stationary and paperie like these pretty, peacock print cards, perfect for clients and friends. While there, check out their gift wrap. They're pieces of art. In fact I have a framed piece of PS gift wrap hanging in my bedroom. So much pretty in this store. It's worth the drive.
